Chat quality and memory
Candy AI offers companion chat and a character catalog. Its help center describes Premium Plus with 20 memory slots, user personas, chat customization, five cloned chats and 330 monthly tokens. Its logged-out pricing page did not publish the Premium Plus price in our September check. Those controls describe what you can configure; they do not establish better continuity or reply quality.
OurDream AI documents selectable chat models, group chats and pinned character memories. Genius and Lively Genius replies cost 1 coin under its standard subscriber rate card. Its community-built catalog gives you more premises to inspect, but a catalog size or memory feature does not establish long-term recall quality.
Choose the controls and character premises that fit your needs, then judge the replies yourself. Our OurDream AI review reports its separate chat test; the Candy AI review covers Candy. Neither establishes a matched winner here.
Images, video and voice
Both advertise image and short-video generation using credits. Compare a common task basket and the actual charge for each operation, not the number of credits included.
OurDream publishes its full price list. Per its help center: a standard image generation costs 10 dreamcoins for 2 images, an image in chat costs 5, editing an image costs 10 or 20 depending on the model, video costs 100 coins per 5 seconds (up to 60 seconds), an Ultra quality video costs 200, and voice calls cost 50 coins a minute. So 1,000 monthly coins buys roughly 200 standard images, or about 10 five-second clips, or 20 minutes of calls, or a mix.
Candy’s captured pricing page did not list per-action token costs. Its help center names token uses including images, custom characters, voice, video and content packs. Without the current account rate for the same operations, we cannot convert its allowance into a reliable image or video total. Check the charge displayed before approving an operation.
We have not compared matched output quality or measured which style either handles better. The vendors prohibit deepfakes and real-person likeness misuse; keep any comparison to original fictional characters and permitted content.
Character creation
Both let you build your own character. Candy’s builder has you click through looks, personality and voice, and creating a custom character costs tokens. OurDream’s builder is a visual wizard of about six steps, and “Design with AI” turns a written description into a filled-in character draft for 5 coins. Premium subscribers can submit public characters, reviewed manually in 3 to 5 days per its help center.
Pricing: what Candy AI and OurDream AI actually cost
As of September 2026, Candy AI’s subscription page lists three terms, all with the same Premium benefits:
- 1 month: $13.99
- 3 months: $8.99 a month, billed $26.97
- 12 months: $3.99 a month, billed $47.88
Every plan includes unlimited text messages and 100 tokens a month, credited monthly even on annual plans. When tokens run out, chat keeps working and you are prompted to buy more.
OurDream AI’s standard subscription comes in two billing terms, per its help center:
- Monthly: $19.99, with 1,000 dreamcoins on signup and 1,000 every month
- Annual: $119.88 once a year ($9.99 a month), with 2,000 coins upfront (including a 1,000 bonus) and 1,000 every month after
A Deluxe tier, missing from the help center, costs $59.99 a month or $359.88 a year, with 5,000 dreamcoins a month (upgrade page, September 2026). You need an active subscription to buy extra dreamcoins. OurDream does not accept PayPal; it takes cards and crypto.
A comparable budget example. Eight in-chat images plus two standard five-second videos would use 240 OurDream coins at its published subscriber rates: 8 × 5 + 2 × 100. This is arithmetic, not a generation test, and assumes those exact modes. Price the same basket in your Candy account, then compare the total subscription and any required top-ups. Missing Candy rates prevent an overall cost winner.
Both services need a cancellation check. Candy’s terms say unused tokens expire when canceled paid access ends, while a help page saved September 29 says they return after resubscribing; we could not reload that help page on October 1. OurDream’s conflicting coin-survival help pages both remain accessible. Ask support about your specific balance before relying on either interpretation.
Free tier: can you try either without paying?
Candy AI: its help center says a free account can send up to 5 messages in chat across all characters combined, create one custom character and generate one image. The homepage mentions a “7-day trial”, but the help center and terms describe only this allowance.
OurDream AI: you can chat with public characters a few times without an account. After that, OurDream’s help center says every message from a non-subscriber costs 1 dreamcoin, and image and video generation require a subscription. It says it does not hand out free coins apart from Discord contests, events and referrals, while its marketing pages promise 55 on sign-up; your account shows what you actually get. Free access is a limited preview, not evidence of paid output quality. Check the balance and available operations on your own account; we have not run a matched free-tier comparison.
Privacy, billing and refunds
Candy AI
- Run by EverAI Limited in Malta, under EU GDPR.
- Your card statement shows “EverAI”, not Candy. Candy also takes crypto.
- The privacy notice says interactions train its AI and moderation models, and preparing training data may include human review of de-identified conversations. Flagged content can be reviewed by humans.
- Account data is kept for three years after your last activity (sometimes shortened to one year) unless you request deletion. Delete it under Settings, “Danger Zone”. Financial records are kept for ten years for tax purposes.
- Refunds: within 24 hours of payment and only if you have used 20 tokens or fewer, card payments only. EU and UK users get a 14-day withdrawal right, minus a prorated amount for what they used.
OurDream AI
- Run by US and Cyprus entities. The privacy policy says data is encrypted at rest and in transit (AES, TLS 1.3).
- It lists training its AI and machine-learning models among the uses of your information, which includes chat content.
- It uses analytics such as Google Analytics. It says it does not currently advertise, but reserves the right to share online identifiers (cookies, IP address, device IDs) with advertising partners in the future, with opt-outs described in the policy.
- If a public character you made becomes popular, OurDream may keep it live even after you delete your account, so keep personal details out of public characters.
- Refunds are case by case if you report a defect within 14 days, with a 14-day withdrawal right for EEA, UK and Swiss users. Crypto payments are final. Filing a chargeback without contacting support first may get your account suspended.
- After subscription lapse, the help center says media is blurred. Its coin-survival pages conflict, as explained above; do not assume unused coins will return after resubscribing.
Candy is clearer on retention; OurDream’s blur on your own images after cancelling is the detail most likely to annoy.
Content limits and moderation
Both are 18+ and allow explicit chat and images for paying adults. Both ban content resembling minors, deepfakes and real people, celebrity impersonation, hate speech and illegal content, and both run automated LLM moderation with human review of flagged material.
OurDream’s prohibited content policy is more detailed and even bans tips for getting around moderation. OurDream’s help center also admits its filter is “a bit too sensitive right now” and may flag safe content.
The bigger difference is who makes the characters. Users cannot upload or share content on Candy, so its catalog is curated across Girls, Anime and Guys sections. OurDream’s library is mostly user-made across female, male and trans characters, with far more variety.
Which should you pick?
- Lowest captured base subscription price: Candy’s $47.88 annual offer, if the up-front commitment fits. This does not establish the lowest bill once media is added.
- Regular image generation: compare the same image count and mode at the displayed account costs. OurDream publishes rates; Candy’s missing rate information prevents a price winner here.
- Video or voice: OurDream’s documented standard rates make a 30-second clip 600 coins and a 10-minute call 500. Compare equivalent Candy operations before choosing.
- Ready-made catalog browsing: inspect Candy’s available characters and configuration controls; we have not timed setup or ranked reply quality.
- Community characters and model choice: inspect OurDream’s library and controls. Those features do not guarantee better long-form roleplay.
- You are not sure yet: pay for one month of either rather than a year.
