Harpy Chat is a roleplay platform whose Max plans combine two different kinds of access: a flagship model’s daily allowance and credits for premium models. Buying a larger credit package does not mean every model becomes unlimited. If your main goal is a character you can shape and chat with directly, Cherrypop’s creator is another workflow to compare.
Read the renewal column first
The monthly selector displayed a first-month promotion alongside the later monthly charge. Its flagship allowances and premium credits were separate:
| Max package | Displayed first month | Displayed later monthly charge | Monthly credits | Flagship messages per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | US$6.39 | US$7.99 | None | 100 |
| 12k | US$9.59 | US$11.99 | 12,000 | 150 |
| 30k | US$14.39 | US$17.99 | 30,000 | Advertised unlimited |
| 60k | US$22.39 | US$27.99 | 60,000 | Advertised unlimited |
The public interface also listed a free model. Monthly credits do not roll over; purchased top-ups do not expire. The credit FAQ says premium replies pause when credits run out, while free models and the daily flagship allowance continue. We did not enter checkout, so tax, eligibility and the offer attached to a particular account remain unverified.
Two budgets, two different limits
Suppose a reader expects twenty flagship messages on most days but one long 200-message session each weekend. Under the displayed Basic allowance, the quiet weekdays do not establish a bank of unused daily messages for Saturday. That reader’s buying decision is about the daily peak, not a low monthly average. This is a hypothetical usage pattern, not an observation from Harpy logs.
A second reader mainly wants to compare premium models. Their relevant constraint is the credit charge of each selected model and response. A 12,000-credit package does not mean 12,000 messages. Without the actual per-use rate, dividing credits by a desired message count only produces a spending ceiling, not an output forecast.
For example, reserving 12,000 credits for 300 premium replies sets an average ceiling of 40 credits per reply. If the selected operation costs more, that package will not cover the whole plan. If it costs less, it may. The example deliberately does not invent Harpy’s rate for an unnamed model.
When a higher package changes the decision
At the displayed ongoing prices, moving from Basic to 12k adds US$4 per month, 12,000 credits and a higher flagship allowance. Moving from 12k to 30k adds US$6 and 18,000 credits, alongside the advertised unlimited flagship tier. That makes the middle upgrade a mixed purchase: a change in daily access plus a larger premium-model budget.
For the 30k offer, the displayed first month plus two later months would be US$14.39 + US$17.99 + US$17.99 = US$50.37 before any taxes or top-ups. Comparing three months this way is more useful than treating the promotional US$14.39 as the permanent subscription cost. Recheck the offer before purchase because temporary promotions can end.
Keep the products and promised features separate
Harpy’s company page presents harpy.chat as its character-chat and roleplay hub. It separately describes astrsk.ai as a local-first roleplay application. That distinction matters: a local-first description of astrsk.ai does not establish that Harpy Chat runs locally or keeps every operation on your device.
The inspected Max page marked Co-Author Bots as coming soon. Treat that as a roadmap item, not a current reason to subscribe. Model-quality labels are the provider’s descriptions, so evaluate replies against the scene and character you want to write.
When Cherrypop is the simpler task match
If the creative task is to define one character and an opening conversation, Cherrypop gives you a direct place to do that. The creator supports realistic and anime styles plus appearance and personality choices. Scenario, First Message and Additional Personality Details let you state the premise in separate fields.
Imagine Tomas, a 41-year-old sound engineer preparing a small theatre before opening night. His practical temperament belongs in personality details; the missing sound cue belongs in Scenario; his request for help belongs in First Message. Start the interaction with a clear choice for the user.
Cherrypop also has image and video generation workflows. It is free to start with limits, and some features require Premium or Cherries. It is worth considering for character creation and interaction; this comparison does not promise Harpy-style model routing, credit equivalence or a superior memory system.
Our recommendation
Choose Harpy’s package by the model you actually want and the days you expect to use it most. Keep premium credits and flagship access in separate budget lines. For a focused character-building route, create an original character on Cherrypop and establish the scene before expanding the media or subscription budget.
