Higgsfield AI free access exists, but it is not a promise of free videos on every model. As of October 1, 2026, Higgsfield’s help center describes a free account with a limited set of models and no included credits. Its separate Popcorn page advertises daily free credits without specifying an amount. Those statements do not establish a consistent platform-wide allowance, so check the balance and model available to your account before generating.
The practical starting option is the free tier, not a paid subscription labeled with “free generations.” Below is how to distinguish the two, locate your allowance and avoid treating an expired promotion as a current offer.
For an original character-based project, Cherrypop’s creator offers another free-to-start route with its own limits. It is worth considering for the character and chat workflow, not on an unverified promise of cheaper generation.
What Higgsfield AI free access actually includes
Higgsfield’s plans help page says you can generate without a subscription using a small selection of models, but that this access does not include credits. It does not identify the free model list or a recurring generation count. Paid plans differ in model access, monthly credits and simultaneous generations.
There is a source conflict to be aware of: the Popcorn storyboard page says all users receive daily free credits to try its features. That page gives no amount or reset time. It is a documented place to check for free storyboarding access, but its promise should not be extended to every image or video model. If the account does not show that allowance, ask support which terms apply before paying.
| Access type | What it means | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Free account | Limited model access per the plans help page | A fixed number of free videos each day |
| Popcorn daily-credit claim | A specific storyboard-page offer with no published amount | Credits for the whole model library |
| Free generations in a paid plan | A one-time model-specific pool included with purchase | A free subscription or a pool that renews |
| Unlimited access | Covered models consume no credits during the stated period | Every model, every setting or API use |
Check your allowance before the first generation
Use this sequence on the Higgsfield website. It separates account access from permission to run the exact job you want:
- Check the balance. Higgsfield documents a credit balance in the top navigation. Open your avatar, then Manage Account, then Subscription for the Credits card.
- Choose the model and settings. Read the cost on the Generate button. Duration, resolution and model affect it. A visible generator alone does not mean the job costs nothing.
- Check any model benefit. The Active unlimited models table under Subscription shows start dates, expiry dates and status. If your model is covered, the generation panel offers an Unlimited toggle; switching it off uses credits.
- Confirm what happened. After a job, Manage Account, then Usage shows model charges and credit returns. Use the recorded charge when planning further attempts.
These controls are described in Higgsfield’s credit guide and model-access guide. If the selected operation needs credits and your balance is empty, the free account does not fund that operation. Try an included mode that serves your project, or evaluate the paid offer separately.
Is the 24-hour free trial still available?
Do not assume it is. Higgsfield’s July 27 announcement describes a one-day trial within a promotion ending July 29 at 1:30 PM UTC. The plans help page, dated August 1, says there is no trial period and directs users to the free tier instead. The old trial article remains online, so its presence is not proof of a current offer. July trial announcement
The same caution applies to the August 2 Seedance promotion. Its blog post advertised free 4K generations on a dedicated page, but that Seedance offer page now says the free day has finished. An old announcement and a working link can coexist with an ended offer.
If your account presents a new trial, check its eligibility, end time, payment requirement, renewal amount and cancellation terms. Treat those as the terms of that specific offer. Neither historical promotion establishes recurring daily credits or a current trial for every new account.
What costs money, even when the label says free?
Some paid plans include a one-time pool of generations on specified models. Higgsfield says these pools do not renew when the subscription renews. Look for the Unlimited & Free Gens section of the plan card to distinguish that pool from the monthly credit allowance.
Unlimited is also a limited entitlement: it applies to named models for a stated period. The help center says its subscription-linked access requires an active subscription and does not restart at renewal. It can stop applying after a downgrade. Buying a plan because one covered model suits your work can make sense; treating that benefit as permanently free access cannot.
Check current paid prices and exact model bundles on the pricing page and purchase screen. Record the amount due, billing interval and benefit expiry. A year of subscription access does not by itself establish a year of included generation on your chosen model.
Credits have different expiry rules
A free account can still hold credits bought earlier. That does not make the credits free. Higgsfield’s top-up policy separates the balances as follows:
| Balance | Expiry | After cancellation |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription credits | No rollover; expire at the billing-cycle end | Usable through the paid period, then expire |
| Credit Pack, Auto-Refill and Boost credits | 90 days from purchase | Main text says usable on free-plan models; FAQ conflicts |
| Promo credits | The date shown when issued | Main text says usable on free-plan models; confirm account access |
The same top-up page contains an unresolved contradiction: its main text says purchased credits remain usable on free-plan models, but a later FAQ says they are unavailable until reactivation. Do not cancel solely on the assumption that your remaining credits will be spendable. Confirm the applicable rule with support and preserve the response. Buying a Credit Pack requires an active subscription, according to the same policy. Keeping an existing pack after cancellation is therefore different from buying more credits while unsubscribed. Check both the balance’s expiry and the model access you will retain.
Also check Auto-Refill if you previously enabled it. Higgsfield describes it as optional and off by default. Once enabled, it charges the saved payment method when the balance falls below the applicable threshold. Disable it under Manage Account, Subscription, Credits auto-refill if you want to approve each top-up yourself. Auto-Refill settings
Website allowances do not cover the API
Higgsfield says included free generations and Unlimited benefits apply on its main website. MCP, CLI, Canvas and Supercomputer generations consume credits even when that website benefit is active. Separately, its API terms require a prepaid API balance: consumer, Team and Scale subscriptions do not fund API usage. Budget an automated workflow separately from a manual website session.
If your goal is character-based video
Cherrypop’s video interface connects character selection with browser-based media modes. Cherrypop is free to start with limits; selected tools and usage require Premium or Cherries. Check the displayed operation cost. This is a different workflow to consider if you also want character chat, with no claim of a larger free allowance or lower generation cost.
Frequently asked questions
How many free Higgsfield credits do I get each day?
A reliable platform-wide number is not established by the current pages. The plans help page says the free tier includes no credits; the Popcorn page promises daily credits without a quantity. Check the offer and balance on your account for that particular tool.
Does free mean no credit card?
Do not assume that. A free account, a promotional generation and a trial can have different payment-verification terms. This guide has not verified a current signup or checkout flow, so it does not promise card-free generation.
Can I keep using purchased credits after cancelling?
The official top-up page conflicts with itself: its main text says yes on free-plan models, while a later FAQ says credits are unavailable until reactivation. Confirm which rule applies before cancelling. Subscription credits are documented as expiring when the paid period ends.
To build an original companion, start with appearance, personality and a scenario in Cherrypop’s character creator, then use its supported image or video flow when media serves the character. Relevant generation can require Premium or Cherries. This route does not inherit a Higgsfield allowance or subscription benefit.
