The Mage.space image generator puts multiple models and image tools in a browser workflow. The first useful choice is whether you need a new composition, a variation of an existing picture or a local repair. Make that choice before comparing model names or assuming an unlimited plan covers every action.
If the image is the beginning of a companion character, Cherrypop’s creator combines appearance with personality and conversation. Mage’s image-generation and editing routes below serve a broader asset-creation task.
Choose the creation route before the model
Mage’s generator page describes text-to-image and image-to-image workflows. Its editor page separates masked Inpaint, broader Refine, Relight and Image Enhancer tools. The distinction helps you avoid replacing an accepted composition when only one part needs work.
| What you need | Route to inspect | Keep as a baseline |
|---|---|---|
| A new visual from an idea | Text to image | The brief and the selected model |
| A new treatment of an existing picture | Image to image or a suitable refinement | The uploaded original and intended changes |
| One area corrected | Masked Inpaint | The accepted surrounding composition |
| A lighting change | Relight | The subject, framing and details that should stay |
| A larger finished asset | Image Enhancer | The approved image at its original size |
An enlargement is not automatically a more accurate image. Inspect details added during enhancement, especially lettering, repeated patterns and product features. A visually sharp mistake still needs correction.
Use a lighthouse cover as a bounded first project
Imagine a cover illustration for a fictional coastal mystery: a lighthouse on the right, dark water below and quiet sky on the left for a title added later. The image’s job is atmosphere and space for layout, not generating final typography and a detailed map at once.
A proposed brief is: “A painted coastal lighthouse on the right side of a wide composition, dark blue water below and open misty sky on the left. Keep the left area simple for a title I will add separately.”
| Decision after the first result | Reasonable next action | Check before accepting |
|---|---|---|
| The lighthouse is on the wrong side | Revisit the composition request | The final crop has room for the title |
| The composition works but one window is distorted | Try a local masked repair | Nearby wall edges and lighting remain coherent |
| The structure works but the scene is too bright | Investigate a lighting edit | The lighthouse remains readable against the sky |
| The cover is accepted but needs a larger file | Inspect the enhancement route | New details do not change the approved design |
Save an accepted version before branching. A local repair should be judged against that saved image, not against the latest output merely because it is newer. If a fix damages the silhouette or removes useful title space, returning to the baseline may be the better decision.
Understand which actions use Gems
Mage’s documentation distinguishes membership-covered generation from actions paid with Gems. Its generator FAQ describes the free allocation as one-time, rather than a recurring monthly budget. Paid unlimited generation applies to covered models and settings; it should not be read as unlimited use of every option.
Record the selected model, route and displayed charge before a comparison. A cheaper first image is not necessarily a cheaper finished cover if it needs many consequential repairs. Conversely, a higher-priced model is not automatically better for a simple illustration.
| Budget entry | What to record | Decision supported |
|---|---|---|
| Initial composition | Selected model, settings and any displayed Gem charge | Can this route meet the brief within the available allowance? |
| Repair | The one defect being corrected and the action’s charge | Is another generation justified by a specific improvement? |
| Accepted asset | Saved version and remaining layout work | Is the image ready for finishing rather than more variations? |
The editor’s access information should be checked separately from the image generator’s introductory offer. Do not assume that receiving free generation Gems establishes every editing entitlement. For commercial use, inspect the selected model’s terms as well as the service’s plan; Mage itself notes that third-party model conditions can apply. Generator FAQ
When the goal is an interactive character
A lighthouse cover is a finished visual asset. A companion portrait is only one part of a character. Cherrypop’s creator also defines personality and a scenario, which can continue into conversation and supported image or video creation. That makes it useful when interaction, rather than general illustration editing, is the intended result.
We are not presenting Cherrypop as a substitute for Mage’s masked-editing tools or claiming identical output quality. Cherrypop is free to start with limits; relevant media can require Premium or Cherries. If you want a character to return to, create its appearance, personality and scenario before choosing its next image.
