NightCafe combines multiple image models with its own creation interface and credit system. Choose the model for the image task, then check the total charge after adding references and settings. A plan’s included generation allowance does not mean every configuration of that model costs the same.
For an original character whose next step is conversation, Cherrypop’s character creator adds personality and scenario choices.
Choose a task before choosing a model
| Task | What matters | What is insufficient |
|---|---|---|
| Explore a new illustration | Whether the basic result fits the brief | A model’s position in a recommended list |
| Change an existing picture | Reference support and the intended change | A claim that a model is generally more precise |
| Make several usable assets | Total cost of accepted outputs | The cheapest displayed base rate alone |
NightCafe’s model guide distinguishes models and feature access. Treat its recommendations as vendor guidance, rather than an independent comparison of your specific use case. A small, well-defined first task gives you a basis for deciding whether the selected route is useful.
A reference can change an allowance calculation
The GPT Image 2.5 guide gives a concrete example. Low quality costs 1 credit at Medium resolution or 2 at High resolution, before references; each start image adds 1 credit. On AI Creator and above, the documented Low-quality included allowance applies when the generation costs 2 credits or less. Both 2.5 models are PRO.
| Illustrative setup | Listed-cost arithmetic | Within the stated 2-credit condition? |
|---|---|---|
| Low, Medium, no start image | 1 + 0 = 1 | Yes, subject to the eligible plan |
| Low, Medium, one start image | 1 + 1 = 2 | Yes, subject to the eligible plan |
| Low, Medium, two start images | 1 + 2 = 3 | No |
| Low, High, one start image | 2 + 1 = 3 | No |
These are credit calculations from the dated table, not dollar prices or a verified checkout. The result explains why an ordinary creation and a reference-led edit can be treated differently even at the same quality level. Check the current charge before submitting.
Make the reference earn its cost
Imagine an illustration of a fictional riverside café. A layout sketch may establish the window position, while a second photograph merely repeats the intended blue color. Before adding both, ask whether the written brief can communicate the color adequately. Keep a reference because it conveys a necessary constraint, not because the upload control permits another file.
- Write the image’s purpose and identify the one detail a reference must preserve.
- Start with the smallest set of inputs that communicates that requirement.
- Review the displayed total after setting quality and resolution.
- Compare the result against the requirement before adding more references or choosing a higher setting.
If the layout is wrong, increasing resolution does not directly answer the layout problem. If a detail is unreadable at the intended size, that may justify a resolution change. Make each additional credit answer a specific question instead of treating a more expensive configuration as automatically better.
Fast and Relax are different credit paths
NightCafe’s credit explanation distinguishes purchased Fast credits from earned Relax credits. Relax generation enters a queue and is restricted to one queued creation and one image at a time; some higher-cost models need Fast credits. A visible balance therefore does not by itself establish access to every job.
Keep separate notes for the displayed job charge, the credit type and whether the returned image is usable. The useful measure for a project is the cost of accepted material, including completed attempts you decide not to keep. This guide does not assume how failed or refused jobs are billed.
When the image is part of a companion
NightCafe’s documented workflow addresses making and refining images. Cherrypop adds a different destination: an original character with appearance, personality and an opening scenario, followed by chat and supported media creation. If that interaction is the project, define the character before spending time perfecting an isolated portrait.
Cherrypop is free to start with limits; relevant features may require Premium or Cherries. Its credit system is separate from NightCafe’s and no price equivalence is implied. Create the character and its scenario when you want the visual to lead into an ongoing experience.
