Synthesia AI organizes video creation around scripts, scenes and avatars. Its Canvas, Storyboard and Timeline views solve different editing problems. Start by deciding what your viewer must understand, then use the view that helps you fix the actual problem.
If you want an original character who responds in conversation, Cherrypop’s creator connects appearance, personality and a scenario. A prepared avatar presentation is a different task.
Match the editing view to the problem
Synthesia’s view guide describes Canvas for individual scene layout, Storyboard for the full script and Timeline for timing and layers within a scene. That separation is useful because unclear writing, poor layout and mistimed visuals need different repairs.
| What is wrong | Start here | Useful repair |
|---|---|---|
| The explanation repeats itself | Storyboard | Remove repeated ideas and put the message in order |
| The main instruction is hard to see | Canvas | Simplify the scene and emphasize the required action |
| An illustration appears too late | Timeline | Align the visual with the relevant narration |
| The avatar performance needs inspection | Generated output or eligible Scene Preview | Review the actual rendered performance |
Build a short orientation around evidence
Imagine a fictional community ceramics studio explaining how to collect a finished item. The video should tell a visitor where to go, what to bring and how to check the collection instructions. Use actual supplied information for a real organization; an AI script must not invent its policies.
| Scene | Spoken point | Required visual evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Where to go | Explain the collection location | A current image or clear diagram of that location |
| What to bring | State the actual identification or receipt requirement | Exact supplied text, without unnecessary personal details |
| What to check | Point to current opening and collection information | A readable, verified destination |
The avatar is a presenter, not evidence that the process works. The evidence is the correct location, rule and destination. If the source information changes, revise those parts before changing decorative elements.
- Read the complete script in Storyboard and remove any instruction that lacks a factual source.
- Use Canvas to make each scene’s required information readable. Keep decorative content subordinate.
- Use Timeline where a visual needs to appear alongside a particular part of the explanation.
- Preview the sequence, then inspect the rendered deliverable before distributing it.
Ordinary preview does not animate the avatar
The ordinary preview guide says you can play a scene or the whole video without using credits to inspect script, visuals and timing. It explicitly distinguishes element animations from avatar performance: the avatar is not animated in that preview. A good preview therefore does not establish that the final speaker looks or moves as intended.
Use that preview to catch cheap-to-fix problems: a missing instruction, an unreadable sign or a visual appearing before its explanation.
Rendered Scene Preview is a separate capability
Synthesia’s Scene Preview guide describes an Enterprise-only option for rendering a single scene’s avatar performance. It also explains that changing the script, voice or avatar framing invalidates the prior performance. This is different from the ordinary editor preview; do not assume your account includes it.
That distinction suggests a practical order of work: settle the meaning and layout first, then review performance with the available rendering route. Otherwise, a script correction can make a performance review obsolete before the video is finished.
Keep the accepted version and verify delivery
The video-building documentation separates creation, generation, sharing and download tasks. Check your account’s applicable generation and export access before promising a particular delivery format. This guide does not assert a current plan price, included minutes or download entitlement.
After generation, watch the complete result, read every destination and check the actual file or share experience. A presenter who says the correct sentence is only one part of a useful orientation. The viewer must also be able to act on the information.
Choose a conversational character for an interactive project
Cherrypop is relevant when the character’s next response matters. Its creator lets you define appearance, personality and an opening scenario, then continue into chat and supported media creation. That is a focused companion workflow, rather than a promise to reproduce Synthesia’s scene editor or Enterprise preview tools.
Cherrypop is free to start with limits; relevant features can require Premium or Cherries. Create a character with a clear role and scenario if your project calls for ongoing interaction instead of a prepared presentation.
