OurDream AI Review 2026: Lively Characters, but the Coins Are the Catch

OurDream AI Review 2026: Lively Characters, but the Coins Are the Catch

Verdict: OurDream AI review in short

Our OurDream AI review verdict: OurDream AI is a legitimate, feature-rich roleplay platform whose characters have distinct, lively voices, but they did not always follow instructions or respect the pace we asked for. Default text chat cost us nothing on Premium. Images, video and voice run on a coin meter that pushes you toward Deluxe at $59.99 a month.

Our top pick: Cherrypop.ai. The best OurDream alternative for adults who want uncensored roleplay that is free to start, with a big catalog of realistic and anime characters, a create-your-own wizard and AI images of your character, all in any mobile browser. Try Cherrypop free →

Score: 6.5/10. Scored on value for money, chat quality, and how clear the billing, privacy and cancellation terms are, weighted equally.

  • Best for: text-first roleplayers who want a big community character library and will pay yearly.
  • Skip it if: you want regular video or voice without buying coin packs, you need characters that stick closely to your rules, or you are not comfortable with a privacy policy that allows training on your data.

Pricing and plans (with the math)

OurDream has two subscription tiers, each billed monthly or yearly. Here are the plans from its upgrade pages and help center, as of September 2026:

PlanPriceCoinsWhat it adds
Premium Monthly$19.99/month1,000 a month“Unlimited messages”
Premium Yearly$9.99/month, billed $119.881,000 a month + 1,000 instant bonusSame features, half the price

OurDream’s Premium Yearly offer: $9.99 a month billed $119.88, 1,000 coins a month plus a 1,000-coin instant bonus (US pricing, September 2026)
OurDream's Deluxe plan: $29.99 a month billed $359.88 yearly, or $59.99 month to month, with 5,000 coins a month (September 2026)
OurDream’s Deluxe plan: $29.99 a month billed $359.88 yearly, or $59.99 month to month, with 5,000 coins a month (September 2026)

The upgrade page does not explain “Free thinking models” or “3x chat memory”. OurDream’s coin guide (March 2026) charges 1 coin per reply on its premium “Genius”-class models, so the likeliest reading is that Deluxe waives that charge, but the plan page does not say so.

Coin packs

Top-ups cost $11.99 for 1,000 coins, $49.99 for 5,000 ($10 per 1,000) and $159.99 for 20,000 ($8 per 1,000). The store offered card payment, with crypto under “More Payment Methods”. The help center says you can only buy coins while subscribed.

OurDream's dreamcoin packs: 1,000 for $11.99, 5,000 for $49.99, 20,000 for $159.99, card or other payment methods (September 2026)
OurDream’s dreamcoin packs: 1,000 for $11.99, 5,000 for $49.99, 20,000 for $159.99, card or other payment methods (September 2026)

What a coin actually costs you

  • Premium Yearly: 13,000 coins in year one for $119.88, about $9.22 per 1,000.
  • Deluxe Yearly: 65,000 coins for $359.88, about $5.54 per 1,000, the cheapest coins OurDream sells.
  • Deluxe Monthly: $12 per 1,000, the same rate as the smallest pack. You pay the monthly premium for the plan features, not the coins.
  • Moving from Premium Yearly to Deluxe Yearly: $240 more buys 52,000 more coins, about $4.62 per extra 1,000.

Default text chat on standard models never touched our coin balance: standard chat is free for subscribers, but the Genius models cost 1 coin per reply, so heavy chatters on those models will use far more. Media costs more again: per the coin guide, a voice call costs 50 coins a minute, so 20 minutes empties a Premium month, and a 60-second video costs 1,200 coins, which is $9.60 to $14.39 at pack prices. Deluxe only pays off if you make media every week.

OurDream’s help articles conflict on whether unused coins survive after you cancel (one says “Coins do not expire!”), so spend them before your billing period ends. There is also a referral offer: give a friend 1,000 coins and get 1,000, with a 10,000-coin bonus after 10 referrals.

Creating a character

You get two ways in. The main creator is a visual wizard of about six steps: choose female, male or trans, realistic or anime, then work through appearance and personality. The faster route is “Design with AI”: pick a style and gender, describe the character in plain text, and press “Generate Character”, which costs 5 coins.

OurDream's
OurDream’s “Design with AI” panel: style and gender menus, a free-text description box and a 5-coin “Generate Character” button

When we described a realistic woman who runs a bookshop, our balance went from 963 to 958 coins, confirming the 5-coin price. The tool turned the text into the same structured fields the wizard uses (body type, skin, eyes, hair, an image model called “Fusion”) plus personality tags such as Bookshop Owner, Sarcastic and Intellectual, with eight more. You can edit a filled-in form instead of starting blank. The 5 coins cover the Generate step; the coin guide lists 10 coins to create a chatbot, including its first two images, and 5 per image reroll, so check the cost your account shows before you save.

Public characters go through a manual review queue. The help center’s newer FAQ (August 2026) says it usually takes 3 to 5 days, and only premium accounts can submit them.

Chat quality and memory

Replies are OurDream’s strongest point. Characters proposed concrete next actions instead of vague filler and sounded recognizably different from each other. Library characters’ greetings ranged from 165 to 2,212 words, so some open with a line, others with a novella.

The weak point is control. In our chats we saw:

  • Agency and scene jumps: the character acted for us or skipped ahead in the scene.
  • Missed instructions: a clear, specific request was not followed.
  • Invented details: the character made up history or traits for us that we never gave it.

Strong voice and poor boundaries showed up in the same chats: a lively, in-character reply could still make up a shared past or touch before asking, against the preference we had stated. At times a character recalled our request for slow pacing, then touched before permission one turn later. Several library chats also ended before a normal conversation could develop.

On memory, OurDream markets pinned memories, and Deluxe advertises “3x chat memory”, which suggests Premium’s memory window is the smaller one. Published user reviews were split, with some complaining of “broken pinned memories” and characters repeating themselves in long chats.

Images, video and voice

Per OurDream’s help center, subscribers can generate images in chat or in a separate generator, edit images, make videos up to 60 seconds, add audio and make voice calls. Its help center says image and video generation need a subscription. The coin guide (edited March 2, 2026) lists:

ActionCoinsWith Premium’s 1,000
In-chat image5 each200 images
Standard image generation10 per 2 images200 images
Image edit10 or 2050 to 100 edits
Voice call50 per minute20 minutes
Standard video100 per 5 seconds50 seconds
Ultra quality video200 per video5 videos
Add audio to video20 per second50 seconds

Per the help center, coins for failed generations come back automatically. Its help center says it does not allow reference-photo uploads “due to possible deepfakes and other legal problems,” so you cannot build a character from a real photo. If your subscription lapses, your images and videos are blurred until you resubscribe, so download what you want to keep.

Safety, privacy and billing

Cancelling

The subscription page is dominated by a large “Upgrade Your Plan” banner pushing yearly and Deluxe. “Cancel Subscription” is a small plain-text link at the very bottom, and the help center says a confirmation step follows. The layout steers you toward spending more. Per the help center, you keep access until the period ends and there is no automatic refund.

Refunds

The help center refuses refunds once more than 25% of a purchase has been used, and monthly plans once their coins are spent; yearly plans “may be eligible for full or partial refund.” The formal refund policy (March 9, 2026) adds a 14-day window for defects, handled case by case, and a 14-day withdrawal right for EEA, UK and Swiss buyers. Crypto payments are final, and filing a chargeback without contacting support first “may result in suspension of your account.”

Privacy

OurDream’s homepage FAQ says: “Your chats are safe with end-to-end encryption… No one can read them, not even us.” Its privacy policy (March 9, 2026) describes encryption “at rest and in transit”, which is standard server-side encryption, not end-to-end. The information it collects includes “chat communications,” and per the policy it may use collected information “to train our artificial intelligence/machine learning models.” Its safety center also says automated classifiers “process all content on the platform,” including private chats, with humans seeing only flagged or reported content. Use a separate email and keep identifying details out of chats. More in is OurDream AI safe.

Account deletion is permanent, takes 24 to 48 hours, and wipes chats, generations and unused coins without a refund.

Who runs OurDream

Three named companies run it: Dream Studio USA, Inc. (Delaware), Dream Studio LLC (New Mexico) and Tektopia Ltd (Cyprus, HE 473775). Two cautions: lookalike sites such as ourdream-ai.uk and our-dream-ai.me are separate businesses, and OurDream says it has no mobile app, so an app store listing under its name is not official. Its Trustpilot profile was also removed; at the time of writing the page says the business “goes against our guidelines and is no longer visible on Trustpilot.”

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Lively, distinct character voices that suggest concrete next actions
  • Default text chat costs subscribers no coins on standard models
  • “Design with AI” turns a paragraph into a filled-in character draft for 5 coins
  • Yearly plans halve the price; Deluxe Yearly has the cheapest coins
  • Public coin price list, and failed generations are refunded
  • Named companies with full published policies

Cons

  • Characters can act for you, invent your history and ignore exact instructions
  • 1,000 coins cover 20 minutes of voice or under a minute of video
  • Deluxe’s “Free thinking models” and “3x chat memory” are not explained on the plan page
  • Cancel link buried under a large upgrade banner
  • “End-to-end encryption” claim is not what the privacy policy describes
  • Tight refund rules, final crypto payments, media blurred after you lapse

How it compares to Cherrypop

For most adults, Cherrypop.ai is the better pick. It covers the same ground: uncensored AI chat and roleplay with a large catalog of ready-made characters (female, male and trans, realistic and anime), a create-your-own wizard, and AI images of your character, including NSFW. It has a free tier, so you can try it before paying, and it runs in any mobile browser with no app to install. It is 18+ only, with age checks where the law requires them; see the site for pricing. If you want to start roleplaying today without buying a plan first, start with Cherrypop.

Who should pick OurDream, and who should skip it

Pick it if you mostly want text roleplay with a big library of community characters, don’t mind searching for one whose premise fits, and will pay yearly. At $9.99 a month, Premium Yearly is fair value for chat, and the coins cover occasional images.

Skip it if you plan to make video or voice every week (you will end up on Deluxe or buying packs), you need characters that follow your boundaries exactly, you are not comfortable with a privacy policy that allows training on your data, or you pay with crypto and might want a refund.
