What OurDream’s free tier includes
OurDream’s coin guide (edited March 2, 2026) sets the rule plainly: subscriber chats cost 0 dreamcoins, free user chats cost 1 dreamcoin per message, and a non-subscriber “will not have access to the majority of these features.” So the free tier is a coin meter, not a daily message allowance.
Where do a free account’s coins come from? OurDream’s own pages disagree:
- Its marketing pages (the free AI girlfriend page, updated March 21, 2026, and the undated AI girl generator page) say you get 55 dreamcoins on sign-up, one time, with no card. The AI girl generator page adds that you can send 5 messages and create a character before making an account, and calls it “a real trial, but it isn’t unlimited.”
- Its help center says “we don’t currently offer free dreamcoins” (August 2025), and a newer community FAQ (August 3, 2026) says “the only way to receive free Dreamcoins is through referrals.”
Go by the balance your own account shows after sign-up. Whatever it is, it does not refill: dreamcoins “do not refresh monthly,” per the coin guide, and only subscribers get a monthly deposit.
Images are the second disagreement. OurDream’s free AI girlfriend page (March 2026) says the 55 coins cover messages, character creation and images at 5 coins each, from one pool, and that video is open to free accounts too. The AI girl generator page says they buy “11 free AI girl images” and that the free tier is view-only, with downloads on Premium. An undated help article says: “You need a subscription to generate images and videos.” Plan on the stricter version; any free image eats into the same coins as your messages.
What costs money on OurDream
Almost everything. The plans on its upgrade pages as of September 2026 (US prices):

Both Premium plans remove the per-message charge on standard chat models. Deluxe adds what its plan page calls “Free thinking models” and “3x chat memory”; the page does not define either. Per the coin guide, OurDream’s “Genius” chat models cost 1 coin per reply; the Deluxe page does not say whether its free thinking models are the same thing.
The coins pay for media. Per the coin guide: an in-chat image costs 5 coins, a standard generation 10 coins for 2 images, a voice call 50 coins a minute, and video 100 coins per 5 seconds, up to 1,200 coins for a 60-second clip. Premium’s 1,000 monthly coins cover about 200 images, or 20 minutes of calls, or 50 seconds of video.
When coins run out, packs cost $11.99 for 1,000, $49.99 for 5,000 and $159.99 for 20,000. You can only buy them with an active subscription, so there is no pay-as-you-go option for free accounts.
What a paid account actually costs you
- Text chat costs nothing on Premium. On the Default and Balanced models, chatting does not move your coin balance. That matches the help center: subscribers chat free, free accounts pay per message.
- Creating a character costs coins. “Design with AI” turns a written description into a filled-in character draft for 5 coins. The coin guide lists 10 coins to create a chatbot, with its first two images included, so check the cost your account shows before you save.
- The upsell is loud. The subscription page leads with a large “Upgrade Your Plan” banner, while “Cancel Subscription” is a small link at the bottom.

How to get free dreamcoins
There are only a few real routes, per OurDream’s help center:
- Referrals. The referral offer reads “Give 1,000, get 1,000.” Per OurDream’s user guide, both people get the 1,000 dreamcoins only once the referred person subscribes, and every ten such referrals earn the referrer a 10,000-coin bonus.
- Discord contests and events. An August 2025 help article points to its Discord, where it “often” offers coins and runs competitions with coin prizes.
- Gifting. The coin guide lists gifting among the ways to obtain coins.
Skip “unlimited coins” generators and modded apps. OurDream says it has no native iOS or Android app, so an app-store listing under its name is not official, and lookalike sites such as ourdream-ai.uk are separate businesses. Use only ourdream.ai. More on this in is OurDream AI safe.
What happens when you stop paying
Cancel a subscription and you drop back to the free tier, with real losses. Per the help center (February 20, 2026), your images and videos are blurred until you subscribe again, community packs included, and you cannot buy coins. Chat goes back to 1 coin per message.
Leftover coins are murky. That February article says “Coins do not expire!”, while an older cancellation article (December 5, 2025) says unused coins last only until the billing period ends and are not restored if you resubscribe. Spend them and download what you want before your paid period ends. Deleting your account wipes unused coins without a refund.
Is the free tier worth it?
As a taste test, yes. A short free session shows whether you like the writing and the character library, but not images, video, voice or memory, which are what most people pay for.
If you decide to pay, go yearly. Premium Yearly is half the monthly price and covers text chat plus light image use. Deluxe only makes sense if you make video or voice every week.
